Note:
The first issue of Batman is an action packed introduction to the world of Batman, and the issue becomes awesome simply because it is the first appearance of three iconic characters.
The comic book also has two major inventions shown, the Joker's Laughing Gas and Batman's flashlight that shows footprints in the dark.
Roy DSilva is an ardent fan of comics, and loves comic booksAlthough it can be said that we live in a visual society because of technology's affinity for multimedia, the truth is that humans have always been a visual species. It is a well-known fact that the human brain translates all spoken words and other forms of communication into pictures in order to "read" them. If an image is already given to the brain, then it does not have to go through the rigors of translating it.
Because children are trying to understand the way that adults organize information, it can be a very effective educational technique to present kids with pictures during the learning process. Presenting new information in a visual way keeps the young mind of a child from having to interpret spoken words and other communications into pictures inside the brain. In effect, you are giving the child a resource upon which to base the organization of information.
I don't normally read books by celebrities, but I guess if I'm going to, Whoopi is the one to read. It happened to be out on the desk when I went into the library to volunteer a few weeks ago and it caught my eye. It was a super easy read and really quite funny!
